Donor terms and refunds

Effective November 5, 2026

This page is for supporters. It says who runs chipin.me, where your gift goes, what it costs, what your receipt means and how refunds work. Read it before you claim a square.

1. Who runs this

Chipin Me, Inc., a Delaware corporation, operates chipin.me as a charitable fundraising platform. We provide the page, the squares and, on some pages, the checkout. Your gift goes to the organization named on the page, not to chipin.me. We are not the charity, and we never hold charitable funds.

2. Where your gift goes, and when

Pages on chipin.me use one of two paths. On a page with an outside donation link, you give on the organization's own donation page. chipin.me never touches that money, and the fundraiser confirms your square by hand once the gift shows up. On a page that takes payment on chipin.me, you pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link, and Stripe processes it. The charge is made directly on the organization's own Stripe account, so the money is in that account immediately. Stripe then pays it out to the organization's bank on the organization's own Stripe schedule. Only organizations that have been verified can take payment on chipin.me.

3. Fees, and who pays them

When you pay on chipin.me, chipin.me charges the organization a 2.5% platform fee, collected as a Stripe application fee. The card processor charges its own fee. You cover both fees on top of your gift, so the organization receives the full gift you chose. The exact amounts are shown before you pay. Our fees page works examples out in dollars. On pages with an outside donation link, chipin.me charges nothing.

4. Your receipt

When you pay on chipin.me, the organization issues your receipt through chipin.me. It carries a receipt number, the organization's legal name, EIN and address, the full amount you paid, and the line the organization chooses about goods or services. The receipt is the organization's, not chipin.me's. On pages with an outside donation link, your receipt comes from that site.

5. Tax deductibility

Whether your gift is deductible depends on the organization's tax status and your own situation. Verified organizations have had their EIN checked against the IRS list of tax-exempt organizations, but that check is not tax advice. chipin.me does not give tax advice. Keep your receipt and ask a tax professional if you are unsure.

6. Refunds

If you paid on chipin.me, you can ask for a refund within 30 days. Ask the organization directly, or write to support@chipin.me and we will pass your request on. The organization decides. If it agrees, the full amount you paid comes back to you, including the fees you covered, from the organization's account. chipin.me returns its platform fee at the same time. Your square comes off the page. If you dispute a charge with your card issuer instead, the organization handles that dispute through Stripe. On pages with an outside donation link, refunds follow that site's policy.

7. Your square

The name, words, photo or logo you put on a square appear publicly on the page and print on the gear. You can choose to appear as Anonymous. On pages that take payment on chipin.me, squares may not carry offers, promo codes or links. Anything you upload must be yours to use. You can ask to hide or remove your square at any time at support@chipin.me.

8. Printed gear

If you order a shirt, towel or banner from a page, that is a separate purchase at the price shown, paid through Stripe. Our print partner, Printify, prints and ships it, and receives your shipping address for that. Returns are only for misprints or damage, reported within 14 days of delivery with a photo.

9. Giving under 18

You must be at least 18 to create an account or start a fundraiser. If you are under 18, you may give only with a parent's or guardian's consent.

10. Questions

Write to support@chipin.me. One address covers refunds, receipts, squares and anything else.
